Choosing the right surface conveyor belt helps to avoid unplanned downtime and costly repairs. Heavy, sharp-edged, and abrasive materials can cause belt rips and tears, bringing operations to a grinding halt.
SDCAD carries a wide selection of hot, plied, and steel cord outdoor conveyor belts from reputable manufacturers. Our engineers will match the belt type to the material you’re moving to ensure a long lifespan and trouble-free performance. Our belt conveyor has the following advantages:
Manufacturers construct surface conveyor belts from two layers of durable cover sandwiching the inner construction. The upper layer of the cover needs to stand up to wear imparted by the transported material. The inner part of the belt provides strength and extension resistance. The bottom layer requires strength and flexibility to run over supporting rollers and pulleys.
Covers are either rubber or a shock-absorbing Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex (RFL)-dipped textile material. A coating of RFL helps textile materials form a durable bond with rubber.
Select from one of three breaker options that include steel, fabric, or aramid (a Kevlar-type material) for enhanced impact resistance and rip protection. Special covers are available for transporting hot materials.
Belt inner construction consists of a multi-ply textile or rubber with longitudinal steel cords.
Consider the following when making your selection:
PLIED BELTS
Engineers specifically design plied belts for quarries, mines, power plants, and other operations transporting heavy and abrasive materials. These belts consist of rubber covers over two to four or more textile plies. The manufacturer dips the textiles in RFL before assembly to ensure a strong bond to the rubber.
Plied belt benefits include:
STEEL CORD BELTS
Composed of steel cables at a constant pitch across the belt, they’re ideal for narrow-width applications. The zinc-plated cables for corrosion protection feature an open structure that facilitates excellent bonding with the rubber. For additional rip protection, consider adding a textile or steel breaker.
Steel cord belt benefits include:
HOT BELTS
These belts have a multi-ply construction and a rubber cover. Intended for transporting hot materials, they are fire-resistant and offer good abrasion resistance. Remember that operations subject to MSHA Part 14 regulations should not use these belts.
Hot belt benefits include:
HIGH-PERFORMANCE AND DURABLE BELTS
SDCAD offers multiple types of surface conveyor belts designed to increase performance and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime. We’ll work closely to understand your unique challenges and recommend the ideal belt for trouble-free and long-lasting performance.
A belt conveyor system is a continuous material handling equipment that uses a moving rubber or PVC belt to transport bulk materials such as sand, cement, aggregates, and gravel over short or long distances. It is one of the most widely used conveying solutions in construction, mining, concrete batching plants, and logistics industries due to its simple structure, high efficiency, and low operational cost. The system can be designed in horizontal, inclined, or curved configurations to suit different site layouts and production requirements.
There are several types of belt conveyors depending on belt material, structure, and application:
Flat belt conveyors: Standard design for smooth and uniform transport of bulk or packaged materials.
Trough belt conveyors: Feature a concave profile to prevent material spillage, ideal for cement, sand, and aggregates.
Portable belt conveyors: Lightweight and mobile design suitable for on-site or temporary applications.
Fixed belt conveyors: Permanent installations for continuous production lines.
Cleated belt conveyors: Equipped with raised sections for inclined transport of fine or granular materials.
Each type is selected based on material characteristics, conveying distance, and installation conditions.
Belt conveyors are widely used in concrete batching plants, asphalt mixing plants, mining sites, ports, and warehouses.
Their main functions include:
Transferring aggregates, sand, and crushed stone from hoppers to mixers or storage bins.
Feeding cement and powder materials into production silos.
Handling construction materials, fertilizers, coal, and grain in industrial facilities.
Their ability to handle a wide range of materials with stable operation makes them an indispensable component in both stationary and mobile production systems.
Key parameters include belt width (400–1200 mm), belt speed (0.8–2.5 m/s), length (up to 100 m), capacity (20–600 t/h), and motor power (2–30 kW).
Important performance indicators are conveying efficiency, energy consumption, belt tension stability, and durability under heavy load.
High-quality belt conveyors ensure smooth transport, minimal spillage, and long belt service life with low maintenance requirements, even under continuous 24-hour operation.
The price of a belt conveyor is influenced by belt material (rubber, PVC, or steel cord), length and width, frame material (carbon or stainless steel), motor power, and customization requirements.
Standard belt conveyors typically range from USD 1,500 to USD 8,000, while long-distance or heavy-duty industrial systems may reach USD 20,000 or more.
Additional factors such as dust covers, adjustable height frames, or automatic tensioning systems can also affect the final cost.
As a professional belt conveyor exporter and manufacturer from China, we provide fully customized conveyor systems designed for high efficiency, durability, and easy integration with concrete batching, asphalt mixing, and aggregate handling equipment.
Our conveyors are built with reinforced steel frames, wear-resistant belts, and high-precision rollers to ensure stable operation in harsh environments.
